The location was the gym at Castle Head Field Studies Centre, Grange-over-Sands.
I first came across the gym at the Workers Music Association Summer School. I'm guessing it was built in the seventies, and the flimsy materials it was built of make the room incredibly resonant - much more so than a room of that size would suggest. Castle Head Field Studies Centre is set in some beautiful countryside just outside of Grange-over-Sands, and that helped the mood of the day as well, although we never got to see the Kingfisher.
